FCT Tax Practitioners Association

Our Story

The Association has contributed immensely to Tax development in Nigeria through her constant training and retraining of members in practice, and the continuous interactions with Tax Authorities and periodic engagement with the general public. we fight to ensure that tax payers and tax consultants rights and privileges are protected in line with the provisions of the tax laws.

We also ensure that relevant tax authorities carry out tax administration in line with the provisions of tax laws and policies. The association was formally registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission in 2012 as a voluntary organization of Tax Practitioners operating within the Federal Capital Territory and its environs.

Our History

The FCT Tax Practitioners Association started by late 2010 when tax practitioners residing in FCT Abuja were facing challenges especially in getting tax clearance Certificate from the FIRS. Many of the policies implemented by the FIRS were against the tax laws making it difficult for tax payers and tax consultants to enjoy tax services from the authorities. Kennedy Iwundu and Acho Aligasim met and invited all tax practitioners in FCT at Crystal palace Hotel in late 2010.

A crowd of tax practitioners attended and Acho Aligasim was elected the first Chairman of the Association with Kennedy Iwundu as the Secretary General among other executive members. On exactly 24th day of July 2012 FCT Tax Practitioners Association was registered by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) as an incorporated trustees with a registration No. CAC/IT/NO 54752. Achor Aligasin, Knnedy Iwundu, James Fadahunsi and James Duru were duly appointed as members of the board of trustees.
